2024 Club Awards

Celebrities, athletes and plus-ones gathered for the club’s annual awards dinner at the Three Horseshoes Stapleford on Saturday 12th October. The Village News has the exclusive inside story of the night. Fresh from his triumph in the club singles competition, coach Ashley Powter picked up the Most Improved Male award, capping off a fantastic year. Our tournament organiser Monika Jacquinot thoroughly deserved the prize for Most Improved Female. The biggest cheer came for Russell Calne (pictured) who walked off with the Most Colourful Character award, as voted by club members. Russell’s acceptance speech was clearly the best of the night, and we make no apology for printing his words in full.
He said, “I love Shelford”.
Many thanks to all those who contributed to our auction lots, which raised a magnificent £1,000 for clubhouse refurbishment and future social events. Thanks also to the club committee and all the fantastic pub staff for making it such a great night.
