County and Club News

Congratulations to two GSTC coaches for making it to the Cambs over 35s County Cup competitions in Eastbourne last month. Matt Sanders was in the men’s team which kept its place in national group three, and Kat Deudney in ladies’ group four. Says Kat, “I really enjoyed Eastbourne, we were well beaten by a very strong North of Scotland team but beat Dorset 3-1 on the last day. Cambs are a really nice team and it’s great to play on lovely grass courts.”

Closer to home it’s the club finals day on the afternoon of September 14th. All are welcome to come and enjoy what could be a very high standard of tennis.  Among the competitors is the county’s top male player Harry Wendelken. Harry has had great success recently, winning two doubles titles at consecutive professional tournaments at Roehampton.  He is pictured earlier this summer signing autographs for young fans at Surbiton.

Finally a reminder for club members, paparazzi and gossip columnists about the annual club dinner at the Three Horseshoes Stapleford on Saturday 12th October. It is the biggest night of the year.
